Job Title: Modern Apprenticeship – Biomedical Support Worker

Grade: Band 3 – Annex 21

Location: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

Contract Duration: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

Closing Date: Friday 9th June


We are delighted to announce we are recruiting to this Band 3 Biomedical Support Worker role, which is based within NHS Lothian Department of Laboratory Medicine.
The duration of the Modern Apprenticeship programme within the Department of Laboratory Medicine is two years. During this time the apprentice will be based in the reception areas of one of the blood science laboratories and will work as a member of NHS Lothian Blood Science team. The apprentice will be trained and supported to undertake pre analytical duties within the laboratory.


The apprentice will also be expected to attend the School of Health, Science and Technology
on a day release basis to work towards a Higher National Certificate in Applied Science and a vocational qualification. The successful candidate(s) will be paid at 70% of band 3 in year 1 and 75% in year 2, on completion of training they will be paid as per the band 3 salary scale.

To be considered for the Modern Apprenticeship programme candidates must be between 16-24yrs of age (or to the age of 29 if you have a disability or care experienced) and hold:


Chemistry & Biology at Higher Level C or above &

Maths at National Level 5 c or above

Or

NC Applied Science Level 6


You must have eligibility to work within the UK, including UK citizen, EU settled or those who have right to remain. Due to the nature of the apprenticeship we can not support visa applications for these positions.
