OVERVIEW:
The Technical Architect plays a vital role in the pursuit of new business, understanding the client’s requirements to construct winning and deliverable technical designs that are commercially acceptable to the customer. The Technical Architect Works in close collaboration with the Solution Architect and other members of the pursuit team (sales, bid management, commercial, transition management and service delivery). This role holder is responsible for the end-to-end technical design for the client. This requires working within the relevant governance and processes.
The Technical Architect will be responsible for articulating the proposed technical design in a compelling manner to the client. The Technical Architect will work closely with the client, refining the technical design to ensure it is compatible with the client’s environment and meets their business needs. The Technical Architect must also understand the overall Services Delivery model from Strategy to Design to Transition to Operation because the Technical Architect will contribute to the successful handover to Transition and Operations Teams, enabling support of the technology for the life of the contract.
SCOPE:
The role holder leads and is accountable for the end-to-end technical design included in the overall Managed Print Services and solution design proposals; typically varying in size and of medium to high complexity.
Pursuit responsibility usually commences with assignment after Qualification, continues through Contract signature and finishes after Handover to Transition Team, including support strategy .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLIENT TECHNICAL SOLUTION STRATEGY -
Technical Design Authority: Takes responsibility for all components input to technical design as well as to qualification and business approval meetings.
- Technical Authority: Takes responsibility for technical input to service design as well as to qualification and business approval meetings. Shapes and architects technical proposals working with partner(s) where relevant.
- Business Development: Establishes customer requirements for the technical elements of a service building strong relationships with relevant internal stakeholders, customer IT organizations and partners.
- Requirements and Design: Designs innovative technical solutions, within the context of the total service solution, and where required, can manage the work of different specialists including partners and third parties—contributing to the design and implementation team. Able to articulate the entire solution architecture to a client or partner on a technical and business level, clearly identifying benefits and risks.
- Integration: Co-ordinates and engages the supporting shared services (e.g. Global Delivery Centres) and service delivery team—as well as partner input where relevant—to develop seamless end to end technical architecture for customers.

Influence: Represents the company at customer forums, conferences, professional bodies to build the company's reputation in the market place. Known expert in one or more service offers and industries.
- Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing: Provides continuous feedback to stakeholders as input for improvements. Shares knowledge with colleagues to make a useful contribution to the Corporation’s knowledge. Updates and improves standard Technical Architect methodologies based on learning and customer requirements/feedback. Promotes knowledge sharing with other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of print and print-related software and services
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate technology and strategy to high-level executives in a consultative manner
- A proven track record in complex technology based outsourced business, having worked in technical architecting, service delivery management or other IT related business functions
- Sound experience in designing technology based services in response to clients key business drivers
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in their work to benefit their customers/end users.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- The ability to analyze issues and to find resolution to problems by using a rational, systematic approach
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Demonstrates a strong team ethic with the ability to build relationships and work effectively in large and small teams.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio & MS Project)
- Proficient in the English language

Relevant Microsoft / Technology based Certification (Security+, Network+)
