Sensor Fusion Internship - Multi-Sensor Ground Truth Estimation

Our vision is to improve every positioning solution

We are driven by a purpose to set a new standard for positioning technologies. Our advanced technology, which is an integral part of a chip or operating system, is transforming the capabilities of billions of devices used every day around the world, enhancing the efficiency and safety of everyday life.

Project Overview:

A persistent challenge in the testing of navigation systems is to obtain accurate “ground truth” trajectories against which performance can be gauged. Cameras can be used to measure trajectory changes; however, this alone is insufficient in the majority of use cases, requiring camera data to be fused with measurements from other types of sensor (e.g. GNSS, accelerometers, gyros).

This internship will involve the development and testing of new algorithms aimed at deriving accurate ground truth from the sensor measurements available in most modern smartphones and sports watches. You will work closely with members of our Sensor Fusion team, and the internship will allow you to develop the creative use of mathematics, programming and communication skills in a dynamic commercial setting.

Your Experience:

We are looking for students in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering, who are keen to start gaining experience in the industry, and have:

    • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
    • A passion for engineering and technology
    • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time

Your Development and Perks

  • This is a paid internship depending on your year of study and remuneration ranges from £300 per week for first year students to £450 per week for fourth year students
  • Feedback sessions, knowledge-sharing and cross-training will be an integral part of your internship programme
  • You will have the opportunity to work from home but also be required to attend our office in Cambridge or Bristol as part of your development
  • Pro-rata holiday entitlement
  • Weekly lunches, team nights out and some fantastic social events

Are You Ready to Change the World?

Our people are at the heart of everything we do and our successes are achievements driven by our employees. We stand by our values of:

  • We have high integrity
  • We are trailblazer
  • We are collaborative

We thrive on building a global organisation that is truly focussed on growing an inclusive culture where staff feel supported and empowered to achieve their full potential. We aim to attract diverse talent from around the world and ensure fairness, and equality is at the top of our agenda.
