The people that turn to Citizens Advice need help overcoming an obstacle in their lives – from debt to evictions to trouble at work – and you can be key to them getting the support they need in the quickest, easiest, and most effective way.
The role
As a senior product designer at Citizens Advice, you’ll be excited by the challenge of designing services that work across multiple channels, devices, browsers, and platforms. You and your team will ensure we’re building meaningful, accessible, inclusive, and secure services.
You’ll be an active member of the product design community, contributing to our design system, sharing your skills and learning from others. You’ll be helping with the recruitment of other product designers and be the line manager for more junior team members. Leading by example, you will need to be able to see the bigger picture as well as the finer detail, and understand how to design in an agile environment.
This role will start out working on our bespoke case management system Casebook, which is used by our 20,000 advisers helping clients in local Citizens Advice offices across the UK. You’ll be a senior member of the case management team; helping to set the vision and tone, shape our design direction and choices, and support others to learn and adopt a user-centred mindset.
You’ll work with product managers, user researchers, service designers, content designers, data people, developers, and delivery experts in an agile environment. You’ll have access to the latest equipment needed to do your best work; including MacBooks, Google Suite, Figma and prototyping tools.
We're looking for someone passionate about designing services for those who find themselves in vulnerable situations and helping solve society’s most complex problems. Our products will impact people’s everyday lives. It’s an exciting thing to be part of. We need you.
To apply
To apply, please submit an anonymous CV and a cover letter (which can include a link to your portfolio or examples of work) outlining how you meet the criteria below. Please keep your cover letter to no longer than 2 pages::
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is of strategic importance within the organisation and recognised as integral to all we do as a service.
Central to pursuing our EDI mission is building diverse and inclusive teams in which everyone has a sense of belonging. We believe inclusion is a social justice issue - a principle that underpins our all EDI work. To that end, we particularly welcome applications from people we would like to see better represented in our organisation and sector - people of colour, LGBTQ+ people and disabled people. If you are disabled and meet our minimum criteria you will be guaranteed an interview for this role and we will provide reasonable adjustments as needed. We follow the social model of disability.
We’re a flexible employer, so this role may suit anyone who’d prefer a flexible arrangement to help their work/life balance, many of our colleagues spend most of their time working remotely. Whilst we prefer a blended approach between a local office, if one is near you, and home we’re open to being flexible on location, occasionally a role may require you to be based in a certain location if that's the case it will be detailed in the advert or job description. This can be discussed in more detail during your interview.
