PMO Lead
3 year FTC
Competitive Salary
Your role:
This role is a once in a career opportunity to play a lead role on a transformational Finance Systems project. News UK is in the process of investing in and transforming our Finance Systems landscape. We will not only be moving our core ERP system to S/4 HANA, but also implementing new additional systems including those for Procurement, Contingent Workforce and various other activities.
As Programme Management Office (PMO) Lead, your role will be to establish and lead the Finance Transformation Programme’s PMO function and to deliver project controls & governance across the programme. This role will report directly to the Finance Transformation Programme Manager and will also work closely with both the Finance and Technical Leads to ensure quality delivery across the programme.
Day to day you will:
Building and leading the Finance Transformation Programme PMO function, including:
Develop and maintain the necessary programme delivery framework controls and templates, and ensure these are adhered to by the programme team (including the System Implementation (SI) Partner and any other 3rd parties)
Work closely with the programme team, particularly the key workstreams and their project managers, to ensure robust plans are in place and that these are integrated into a single programme plan against which progress and status can be tracked and reported
Take responsibility for the building and managing the programme’s document and knowledge library, ensuring that all assets are available and up to date
Keep track of the programme budget, collecting the necessary inputs from across the programme and building this into a view suitable for reporting
Develop and maintain weekly reporting, working closely with project managers to get the necessary inputs for accurate reporting
Support the programme manager to develop Steering Committee reports and supporting material
Own and manage the programme RAID log, and provide reporting and escalation on these when required. Work closely with the necessary team members to close items as soon as possible.
All colleagues will have to work together as a team, supported by leadership, to deliver this programme. This also means there may be times when everyone has to support other workstreams at peak load times.
What we’re looking for from you:
We’re looking for an experienced PMO Lead, with a track record of delivering this capability within a large scale and complex programme, including:
Experience of successfully building and running a similar PMO function or team in a large or complex programme
Experience of ERP programmes is preferred, but not essential
Be extremely proactive and be prepared to ‘lean into’ challenges and challenging situations when they arise
Have working experience of project management methodologies (although specific methodologies are not mandated)
A proactivity to be curious; pre-empt issues, challenge, ask the right questions and propose solutions rather than wait for questions
Be able to cut through complexity and get to the ‘so what?’, enabling effective communication to senior leadership and providing clear, polished, and concise outputs
Calmness under pressure and an expert ability in problem solving under ambiguity
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with effective time management and prioritisation
