We are currently seeking a Senior Surface Water Engineer to join our team and this role can be based out of our Dartford, South Mimms or Leatherhead offices.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing all potential route causes for surface water problems, considering maintenance of whole highway drainage network, condition of highway drainage assets, geometry of highway & adjacent land, local surface water drainage, any other relevant causes
  • Identifying the need, scoping, commissioning, and reviewing results from studies / surveys / models
  • Identification, risk-based appraisal and making recommendations for changes to: network operations; maintenance; or improvements to assets to address route causes
  • Producing reports that clearly and concisely explain the problems and possible solutions
  • Produce and deliver high-level briefing notes to directors within CPS, CP and National Highways
  • Undertaking suitable surface water / drainage modelling

Profile

  • Experience in dealing with complex surface water and drainage sites and identifying route case of surface water problems
  • Experienced in the design of drainage networks (including highway drainage
  • Experience in scoping, delivering and interpretation of results from surface water and drainage modelling.
  • Including understanding of modelling limitations and considerations in selecting appropriate modelling techniques
  • Understanding of the responsibilities placed on different duty holders under the various land drainage and flood defense regulations; including the Environment Agency,
  • Lead Local Flood Authorities, District and Borough Councils, Water and sewerage companies, Internal Drainage Boards, and highways authorities
  • Understanding of climate change and impact on design, operation, and maintenance surface water networks
