We are looking for an individual with exceptional leadership skills to guide our IT function. This is an Associate Director (not Director) role which will report into the Operations Director. The successful candidate will establish and maintain best practices in the provision of IT, while ensuring current requirements are met and enabling the delivery of our business strategy.

The position is based at DT1 3QY and the successful candidate will be required to work at the office on a full-time basis. The hours of work are 08:00 – 17:00 from Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understanding, managing, and implementing ISO ISMS 27001/27002
  • Leading and organising the IT and development team (team of 2 employees and an outsource provision)
  • Supporting strategic vision
  • Project managing IT projects
  • Analysing business requirements to determine technology needs
  • Managing IT budgets effectively
  • Setting IT goals and objectives
  • Optimising business IT processes
  • Monitoring IT efficiency
  • Coordinating with our web developers
  • Assessing, monitoring, and upgrading business systems and processes
  • Liaising with vendors and 3rd parties
  • Managing and developing the business IT division

Essential Skills

  • Proven track record of working with and managing ISMS 27001/27002
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding and implementing infrastructure and applications
  • Extensive knowledge of programming languages
  • Data warehousing, architecture, and networking experience
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and technologies
  • A minimum of 5 years of IT service delivery experience
  • Experience with business operations platforms
  • Ability to work alone and to use initiative
  • Ability to work to agreed timescales
  • Friendly, resilient, and tenacious
  • Willingness to assist the wider team on an ad-hoc basis if required

Overview

Reporting to the Operations Director, the candidate will serve in an advisory capacity to the board, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of our technology landscape.

The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement in IT security and cybersecurity practices, ensuring adherence to best practices and relevant standards particularly ISMS 27001/27002. The role necessitates a decision-maker who can provide strategic and professional leadership on IT and continuous improvement projects.

The candidate will be responsible for the operational, strategic, and financial planning of resource allocation for the delivery of all IT services, projects, and IT support across the organisation.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess proven experience in an IT Leadership role as well as significant knowledge and experience of strategic planning and technology strategy.

The candidate should also possess knowledge of security policies and standards, including delivering ISMS 27001/2 security strategy. Additionally, the candidate should be able to confidently communicate, present, and influence at all levels of the organisation, including senior management/board level.

Extensive knowledge of programming languages is required. The candidate should also possess problem-solving skills and have the ability to implement solutions.
