We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the insights team supporting the Data Platform R&D Studio, which owns Spotify’s world-class platform for collecting, processing and managing data. You would more specifically work with helping us understand users of our products, who are also your colleagues: everyone at Spotify who works with data on how our Spotify end users interact and navigate within the app.

You will build a deep understanding of our users' behaviors and the impact we’re having on the Spotify business, turning quantitative data into insights and artifacts which will shape the future of our products. Together with your teammates, you will ensure we are building a platform that empowers everyone at Spotify to make rapid, data-informed, empathic decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with a cross-functional, geographically distributed team of data scientists, user researchers, analytics engineers, product managers, designers and engineers.
  • Define metrics and build dashboards, reports and key datasets.
  • Apply rigorous analysis to understand and document complex workflows and processes.
  • Deliver compelling insights, stories and artefacts to help drive evidence-based product and design decisions.
  • Develop and innovate on our mixed-methods insights practice and contribute to the wider Insights community at Spotify

Who You Are

  • Have proven experience in data science, and a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics or another quantitative subject area.
  • Enjoy working with loosely defined problems and coming up with meaningful answers and impactful insights.
  • A storyteller that enable various audiences to understand and get engaged by insights
  • Have hands-on experience synthesizing insights from data using tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, Jupyter Notebooks, Tableau and Looker Studio.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and can easily connect with your partners in product, tech, business and design.
  • A dedicated advocate of a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development, while balancing business needs.
  • Familiar with qualitative research methods, utilizing data from e.g. user interviews and surveys to synthesize quantitative data with qualitative data.
  • Have an interest in working on internal tools and datasets - where our users are Spotify Employees rather than Spotify’s customers.
