We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Capital and Commercial Services as a Green Recovery Decarbonising Water Resources Civil Lead!


Severn Trent have a need for a full time Civil Lead for this programme of work to act on behalf of the Client under the contract on technical matters supporting the Technical Lead and the Project Management Team.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW


While in this role, you will play a key role in constructing a new water treatment works to enable Severn Trent to utilise a new abstraction license that they have procured for the River Trent. This license will provide enough water to supply a city the size of Derby and is one of Severn Trent’s key projects to be delivered in AMP7. Severn Trent want to reduce the carbon footprint of water treatment as far as practicable.


You will ensure design compliance to specifications, provide expert guidance and steer the design as necessary to achieve the project outcomes.


Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:


  • Responsible for all Civil design decisions on the Green Recovery Decarbonising Water Resources Programme and be responsible for checking and reviewing Civil design outputs.
  • Provide technical expertise and technical input for delivering the optimum Civil solution for a project including learning from other projects. Support the Project Management team with Design Acceptance under the contract.
  • Identify and review deviations from Severn Trent’s standards and support the Project Management Team in taking these deviations to the relevant standards owners or Standards Approval Board for approval.
  • Ensure Severn Trent’s H&S standards are adhered to in relation to the design, in particular standards relating to functional safety, HazOp, HazCon, DSEAR and the CDM Regs.
  • Communicate lessons learned from the project to the wider business and develop younger and less experienced engineers working on the programme of work, driving innovation and develop new approaches and solutions
  • Establish network of external stakeholders to capture learnings, understand innovation and best practice and build into the plans for Capital Design technical standards
  • Provide input to the L&D strategy for the Design community and technical liaison with all suppliers and contractors. Evaluate Civil choices clearly identifying Civil risk and the benefits to whole life cost.


WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE


As a Civil Lead, will have an excellent understanding of the Construction Design and Management Regs and have experience in the roles of Designer. Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer with ICE and be a technical expert in Civil design.
