As the Assistant Manager, you will be a key member of the management team in the Garden Centre, supporting the General Manager to maintain a reputation for providing first class service, whilst improving profitability in this commercial environment.
Successful candidates will have proven experience of working within a people management role in a busy retail environment, this is a very hands-on role. A knowledge of plants would be a “nice to have” but is not essential to the role, however, excellent customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising is required as is previous retail management experience. matched by the ability to manage and motivate a successful team.
Tuesday to Saturday 8hrs per day 40hours per week
Skills required:
Excellent customer service skills.
Communication and team management abilities.
Experience working in a similar role.
Experience of managing team.
Horticulture experience is beneficial.
Duties will include:
Key holder responsibilities to assist with opening and closing of the centre.
Managing Garden Centre people resources.
Delivering colleague engagement and training.
Ordering and stock taking.
Managing cash/till operations/
Excellent customer service.
Plant based background is desirable, but not essential.
Good knowledge of Health & Safety standards.
Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
