Job Description

As a Vice President - Sustainability Policy your role will be to drive the development and implementation of the Firm's strategy on sustainability and ESG-related policy and regulation in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Your position will sit within JPMorgan Chase's Sustainability Team within Corporate Responsibility and will report to the EMEA Head of Sustainability and ESG Engagement.

Job responsibilities:

The increased breadth and volume of sustainability and ESG-related policy and regulatory developments in the EMEA region means that the Sustainability Team requires additional capacity to:
  • identify and analyse sustainability and ESG policy-related risks and opportunities for the Firm, including those in the earliest stages of development;
  • identify overarching themes across different sustainability and ESG policy initiatives in the EMEA region (and globally, where relevant) and develop strategic, forward-looking and thoughtful responses that take into account broader economic and geopolitical contexts;
  • work with internal partners to establish an overall strategic approach to responding to new developments, including engaging with policymakers, regulators and other external stakeholder groups;
  • work with the Firm's Lines of Business to help identify and capitalise on the opportunities that policy changes bring.

Your role will be expected to cover both sustainability and ESG-related policy affecting JPMorgan Chase as a financial institution, and the broader sustainability policy landscape affecting the Firm's clients. Notably this will include developments related to green and transition finance; corporate sustainability reporting and transparency, including transition plans; climate, nature and biodiversity; and green industrial economy policy, including European policy responses to the US Inflation Reduction Act. Identifying salient links between sustainable finance policy and real economy policy, and the impact on the Firm and our clients will be a key value add expected of this role.

Your role will require also close coordination with Sustainability Team colleagues globally, particularly the Global Head of ESG Policy and Regulation, and with and with other teams internally, including Global Government Relations, Legal and Compliance, Risk Management, Finance, and our Lines of Business (e.g., Corporate & Investment Bank, Asset & Wealth Management).

Required qualifications, capabilities, and Skills:
  • Relevant experience in policy and/or regulatory development and analysis, consulting, strategy, research, or a related role, focused on the financial services industry and ESG policy issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of the policy making process in the UK and EU.
  • A deep external network across the financial services sustainability industry and across public institutions involved in the sustainability and ESG policy making process.
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to distil and present complex information plainly and succinctly to a range of audiences.
  • Ease working across a range of complex issues; ability to learn new topics quickly, move between subjects and identify connections between different topic areas.
  • Advanced technical skills in PowerPoint.
  • Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, and creative thinking.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
