Job overview
We are looking for a well organised and confident person to be responsible for the receipt and distribution of all goods into Clinical Engineering and for the despatch of items that are being returned to manufacturers/suppliers.
You will need to ensure that all goods received are logged onto the departmental database and recorded to enable ease of tracking. You will need to provide assistance to the Medical Equipment Planning Unit with the commissioning of new acquisitions of medical equipment.
You will be joining a busy, friendly department, which supports the clinical teams within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
There will be a lot of walking involved in the role and moving boxes and equipment to and from store rooms and into workshops, therefore the role will suit an active person.
There is also a requirement to drive to and from different locations delivering items of equipment, therefore is is essential to have a full clean driving licence.
You will need to be familiar with computer systems and have good keyboard skills to input data accurately and consistently following departmental procedures.
You will be communicating with a wide range of stakeholders so a friendly and polite manner is essential in this role.

Our Clinical Engineering Department, part of the wider Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering service, is one of the largest in the country, offering a diverse range of medical device related services both to the Trust and to external customers. We have collaborative links within the medical device industry, academia and other healthcare providers and are actively involved in clinical research, medical device development, technology transfer and specialist consultancy. We provide a comprehensive medical technology management service; deliver a large equipment library provision and run training and safety management services fundamental to the delivery of healthcare by the Trust. Our mission is to maximise the potential of healthcare technology for the benefits of patients and clinicians, whilst minimising the risks.

To assist in the management of each equipment acquisition from delivery to consignment, to use.
To liaise with the Procurement Department and engage with manufacturers and equipment suppliers to ensure efficient processing of acquisition proposals.
To liaise with external agents, clinical customers, and other stakeholders (e.g. RDU, Central Stores, Infection Control etc.) to ensure that delivery and acceptance schedules for new equipment are appropriately coordinated.
To assist in equipment transfers between Trust locations, and to implement re- commissioning as appropriate.
To deliver/collect items between the Trust locations using the departments vehicle as and when required.
To develop and maintain good relationships with customers and suppliers. To liaise with customers and keep them informed as to the progress of the commissioning of their equipment acquisitions.
