Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a construction environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to fulfil a commercial position within the service area and will be required to manage the commercial elements of allocated construction projects taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Estimating and cost planning activities taking ownership of and presenting project cost plans as well as preparing feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
  • Participate in the procurement process, under the direction of the Project Manager, ensuring that all stages including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively, including producing tender documentation.
  • Ensuring that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are implemented and managed effectively.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require a relevant qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, BSc MSc) in a Quantity Surveying discipline, or an equivalent demonstrable experience and knowledge.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Willing to undertake or working towards or holds full membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., MRICS, etc)
  • Sound business intelligence and ability to identify commercially viable opportunities and secure value for money in service delivery.
  • Skills to monitor contractor performance against pre-determined milestones and to identify when corrective action is needed.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 - £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
