Payroll accountant duties and responsibilities

  • Management of all payrolls and payroll related activities to ensure employees are paid on time and in compliance with local legislations in UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa, and Ireland
  • Responsible for the supervision and processing of the company’s payroll using external payroll providers
  • Update the payroll system (ADP) and other European external providers on new starters, leavers, and variables (bonuses, commissions, overtime etc.) to be processed each month.
  • Tracking employee absence and assisting with holiday balance queries
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for full and accurate statutory reporting (HMRC, Pension Providers, Child Support Agencies etc.)
  • Liaise with payroll and pension vendors and queries from local tax authorities
  • Set and manage various UK and international pension schemes, salary sacrifice, net pay and relief at source in line with auto enrolment legislation
  • Assist with Pension queries and changes for the UK and European payrolls
  • Work closely with Global benefits team to Implement and administer all reward and benefit schemes as per contract and entitlements (Childcare Vouchers, PMI, Life Assurance, Cycle to Work scheme, Referrals etc.)
  • Obtaining relevant approvals from the accountant to commit the payroll and raise payment vouchers
  • Complete year end for UK payroll for P60’s as well as assisting in processing P11db and PSA’s.
  • Provide / upload share options data to HMRC annually
  • Create and post payroll journals to Oracle accounting system
  • Assisting financial and HR personnel with any payroll data requested
  • Assisting with internal and external audit queries and documentation.
  • Review all payroll procedure on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with SOX and external audit requirements
  • Assisting employees with any payroll related questions and queries regarding their pay and handling any payment issues that arise

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with payroll processing software (ADP-IHCM2 would be an advantage)
  • In-depth understanding of human resources and UK labor rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Attention to detail and strong numeracy and administration skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of service
  • The ability to work well with others as well as the ability to work on your own
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
