Job Description


Statkraft is an established and rapidly growing developer of wind, solar, and grid services projects in the UK. We have an extensive and varied portfolio of projects across a mix of technologies and many of these projects are maturing into the ready-to-build phase. We are increasing our team to meet the challenge of fully optimising these projects and helping Statkraft UK to deliver at the scale and pace that is needed.

Working as part of the Optimisation and Analysis Team, and reporting into the Head of Optimisation and Analysis, you will support on commercial and financial aspects of progressing Statkraft’s UK projects from concept to reality. The team is responsible for driving the financial modelling and valuation of all the projects in the UK’s wind, solar and grid services development portfolio and are experts in UK renewables projects. As a small team we work closely together and you will have significant authority and responsibility from the outset.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Understanding and interrogating the key drivers underpinning the valuations of Statkraft’s UK portfolio and communication of these within Statkraft.
  • Undertaking extensive numerical analysis to seek ways to improve and optimise the value of projects, including analysis of hybrid/co-located opportunities including Hydrogen/eFuels and Storage.
  • Supporting commercial processes for project purchase and divestment across the UK portfolio.
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of the cost and revenue drivers that projects will be exposed to, and their likely evolution through time.
  • Tracking/analysis of comparable market transactions.
  • Supporting asset owners and developers with early phase and ad hoc valuation, bid/auction support and price formation, investment analysis of transactions, and financial modelling.
  • Assisting with securing a Route to Market for projects, including determining bid levels for any future Contract for Difference (CfD) processes and participation in PPA tenders.
  • Maintaining industry knowledge on relevant wider issues and representations; actively contributing to Statkraft's industry engagement.

Qualifications
  • Highly numerate (minimum Maths A-Level or equivalent) with numerate degree (STEM or Economics based) and/or post-graduate/professional qualifications.
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills along with substantial knowledge of project economics, DCF, sensitivity analysis and valuation.
  • Extensive previous experience of project finance modelling using MS Excel.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial statement analysis.
  • Critical thinker capable of communicating conclusions effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written English. Norwegian language ability an advantage.
  • Prior understanding of fundamental drivers in wind, solar & grid services projects desirable.
  • Experience and understanding of commercial finance, PPAs, financial markets, M&A, project financing desirable.
  • Knowledge of VBA and PowerBI preferred.
  • Strong ability to take initiative, drive, and lead projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positive attitude with an ability to collaborate constructively and make good judgements.
  • High personal integrity and ethical standards.
  • Great attention to detail.
