Job Description

The Insurance Accountant will be the key point of contact within CFC for financial reporting on Syndicate 1988 and associated processes, including working closely with and reviewing the output of our third party managing agent. In addition the role holder will support and lead on a number of aspects of IFRS 17 reporting and be closely involved across a number of areas of external reporting including new regulatory and reporting changes and preparation of statutory accounts.

About the role

This will role support on technical issues and insurance/syndicate accounting work as required. Other key responsibilities will also include:


  • Deputising for the Syndicate and External Reporting Controller as the key finance contact in CFC for financial queries relating to the syndicate and IFRS 17 and providing insightful analysis on a timely and accurate basis
  • Review and analysis of all financial reports produced by the Syndicate managing agent following up and resolving all queries
  • Supporting the development and enhancement of internal controls for the Syndicate
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and supporting internal and external auditors on all finance aspects of the Group, including but not limited to CFC Corporate Member I Limited
  • Supporting on technical accounting papers and advice to the Group Financial Controller, including on new accounting standards


About you

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA OR CIMA)
  • Insurance accounting experience (at least 5 years +) including exposure to Lloyd’s of London
  • Experience of regulatory reporting standards would be beneficial i.e. Solvency II or IFRS 17
  • Previous experience liaising with third party consultancies
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP’s, IF, SUMIFS and use of pivot tables deemed a minimum)
  • Strong analytical skills and mathematically inclined – ability to manipulate large dataset Good experience in Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and concise presentation skills; you will be interacting with executive-level management
