We are searching for an experienced artist to support and supervise creative content provided by artists. Reporting to the individual art team director and working with the Outsource Manager, the Lead Concept Artist will provide front-line creative feedback for work submitted for Epic review. Though the role will be mainly supervisory, we are looking for an experienced Concept Artist with a solid hands-on art background in characters who has worked in game studio pipelines before. The ideal candidate would be a talented artist who is able to communicate with artists, including documenting existing pipelines, collecting or creating quality bar and technical example assets, collecting photo references, creating mood boards, creating paint overs, and finally collaborating with other teams at Epic to ensure that concept art is of the highest quality and adequately supports the needs of those teams and the project.In this role, you willWork closely with the individual Art Leads, Art Directors, and Outsource Manager(s) on the team to support internal artistsCollect or generate detailed documentation, video reference, and examples of art asset production, procedures, and engine requirements to support the artistsIf required, make any needed fixes to keep assets consistent and technically game readyClearly communicate feedback to the artists, and ensure those creative notes and goals are met, and inform leadership in the event that isn’t happeningCommunicate and partner with internal Epic art staff to ensure that concept art is clear and respects limitations from other disciplinesWhen required, some amount of hands-on art production to deliver concepts for the project, ensuring they are familiar and capable working alongside other Epic artistsWhat we're looking forWorked on at least one AAA game in a Senior/Lead Concept Artist roleExperience working with intellectual propertiesA portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity, and craftsmanshipEffective communicator, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate between internal and external teams and deliver clear and concise feedbackExcellent organizational skills and ability to accurately estimate tasks and maintain schedulesUnderstanding of other game art disciplines, their workflows, and limitations (animation, character, environment, VFX)You’re user-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience.
