Custodian Support (Student Employment)

Terms of Employment

The Weld RE-5J school district is seeking a highly motivated and talented High School student to join our Custodial Department. This opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of custodial operations while working in a professional environment. The Student Custodian will assist the custodial team in performing operations and building cleanliness. This position demands outstanding communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking capabilities.


Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Ace Instructor, the Student Custodian is responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting all assigned or designated areas. Perform basic cleaning, sanitation, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting,, etc.


Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing and other duties as assigned.
  • Report supply and equipment needs to the Supervisor. Perform daily preventative maintenance of site custodial equipment.
  • Ensure proper use and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Monitor and inspect building facilities for safety and cleanliness. Maintain and make minor repairs to the facility and troubleshoot and report areas requiring maintenance to the supervisor.
  • Notify the building supervisor of hazardous or harmful situations.
  • Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event,
and/or school/facility/district closure.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner

    students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality
    laws.

    shall be taken to ensure that only those with a "need to know" are allowed access to
    the material.
  • Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in
    accordance with applicable district policies.
  • Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination
Equipment
Uses of custodial equipment and standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
Qualifications Profilet
  • Must be a current Roosevelt High School student
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
Experience
  • No experience required; experience in general cleaning, chemical handling and customer service preferred
