Job overview

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the newly commissioned Adult Autism Intensive Support Team in Cornwall. The team will work flexibly across the county, there may be occasions for out of county travel when supporting repatriation of people with autism from in-patient facilities back to community settings in Cornwall.

The ability to work independently as well as within a team will also be required. Working using technology has led to exciting developments in the way the team delivers services so candidates will need to be IT literate and have experience using digital clinical records, as well as the desire to explore new ways of engaging with stakeholders using technology.

The candidate will also be required to work with multiple agencies and service providers across Cornwall which will require upon excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be working as part of a new dynamic and enthusiastic team providing person-centred care to adults over 18 with autism and who have complex healthcare/behavioural needs. You will undertake specialist assessments and interventions for monitoring individuals health outcomes through effective review and care planning.

You will have knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Planning .

You will be responsible for the maintenance of high levels of evidence-based clinical practice, contributing to and facilitating Care Processes and Pathways. You will manage and supervise the work of others, and act as a mentor and preceptor.

Qualifications & experience

Essential criteria
  • Current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Relevant specialist clinical skills and experienceparticularly around Positive Behaviour Support/Autism
  • Experience of working with people with autism using specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions
  • Professional qualification – RNLD/RMN
Desirable criteria
  • Child and Adult Safeguarding and protection NHS mandatory training

Skills and Aptitude

Essential criteria
  • Supervision and mentorship knowledge
  • Critical appraisal of legislation, policies, procedures, protocols, professional regulation and codes of practice
  • Information Technology skills in order to provide specialist training
Desirable criteria
  • Developing leadership and management skills

Knowledge and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of equality and diversity legislation
  • Evidence of training, teaching and supporting other staff in an MDT or multi agency setting
