Job description
The role acts as an officer within the Area Incident Team (AIT), delivering a variety of activities to support the readiness, resilience, recovery and review of our incident management activities.

The role is responsible for planning and coordination of incident response activities such as building resilience, training staff, working across agencies, cross cutting operational activities and post incident review. The role supports all aspects of the incident management lifecycle and activities within the AIT.

The role requires independent working, but at times may also require coordinating small teams and/or contribute to projects. You will contribute to the initial tactical response for the Area within office hours (Tactical First Response), through a logistics or Cell lead role. The role will also provide support to other duty officers through assurance of response and ensure situational awareness is shared with oncoming duty teams.
The team
Area Incident Teams represent an evolutionary change in how we work to protect communities and the environment. It will put us in the best place to prepare, support others, provide tactical response to all types of incident, and to deal with the increasing threats and natural hazards resulting from the climate and ecological emergency. We will coordinate and assure all IM activity, including training and exercising, LRF engagement and deliver core preparation activities
Experience/skills required
You will require an understanding of the incident management cycle and the Environment Agency’s role as a Category One responder under the Civil Contingencies Act. You will need to be agile in your approach to how you work and be able to adapt quickly to dynamic situations. To be successful you will need to be able to show evidence of:

There will be occasions when working from an office location will be essential, and occasions when it will be optional. You will need to be able to travel regularly to our incident rooms at our offices in York and Leeds.
