We are looking for an ambitious and talented leader with a track record of developing services and building great teams. This post is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Divisional General Manager to support operational delivery and performance with a wider responsibility within a Directorate Leadership Team. You will support the strategic direction of Urgent and Emergency Care services and work across organisational boundaries to deliver excellent patient care. You will be an engaging leader with a flexible style who can engage and motivate staff across a wide portfolio of areas and have an understanding of what it takes to run a successful management team. In return this posts offers close working with, and support from, the Divisional Leadership Team and the peer Directorate Leadership Teams along with ample opportunity to contribute to or lead large scale transformation projects.

Supporting the Divisional Leadership Team and the Divisional General Manager the post holder will have operational responsibility for the Division to ensure that all operational performance targets including waiting lists, finance, workforce and service improvement targets are achieved. The post holder will actively contribute to service integration and to the development of services in the Division and where appropriate the wider Nottinghamshire health and social care system.

The Division is organised into three Directorates made up of ten specialties across Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital sites including over 750 inpatient beds with associated clinics and a cardiac surgery unit.

  • Educated to first degree level
  • Further training to masters level or equivalent experience
  • Previous successful management experience at a senior level within NHS

Experience

  • Highly developed leadership and organisational skills
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of NHS policy, health sector practices and functions of NHS provider organisations and current targets in place
  • Clear understanding of NHS agenda
  • High level of understanding of NHS contracting and funding flows
  • Proven track record of senior operational management in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Extensive experience of influencing decision making within a large and complex organisation
