The Bank exists to ensure monetary stability and to contribute to financial stability. PPSD ensure that the infrastructures required to support the Bank’s critical functions are maintained and enhanced.

Department Overview

Debden ‘Tradeworks’ are a team of Building Services Maintenance Engineers. There are two teams consisting of a Team leader, mechanical, electrical and building technicians responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Debden Printworks. The Tradeworks team have 12 engineers, 2 apprentices, resource planner all reporting to the Building Manager.

The work consists of a mixture of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM’s) and reactive/ breakdowns working to agreed SLA’s.

The working pattern is Monday to Friday 08.00 until 16.00, with opportunities for overtime.

Job description

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, responsible for the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance and project tasks allocated to self, ensuring all work is completed in accordance to agreed methods, risk assessments, SLAs and customer service standards. The role holders will be part of the team delivering electrical, mechanical, and fabric maintenance and project activities across Debden.

Therefore you will be carrying out routines unsupervised (PPM and reactive), diagnose and repair faults on mechanical building services L8, AHU maintenance, fire alarms, remove, lighting testing, lighting repairs, pumps, motors, heating system fault finding and awareness (Heat exchangers, actuators, pipe work).

You will be expected after a short period of training to go onto the teams ‘On-call rota’

Relevant experience should include:

  • HVAC/ AHU plant
  • Pumps
  • Plumbing
  • L8 Legionella testing
  • PPM & Breakdowns
  • Fault finding
  • Compressed air and pressure systems– you will be expected after training to be one of the sites Authorised Persons for Pressure Systems

What are we looking for?

  • Comfortable carrying out duties independently and unsupervised
  • Well presented with good interpersonal skills as this is a client facing role
  • Maintenance experience
  • Trade trained with at least 3 years experience in building services
  • City & Guilds level 3 qualified or equivalent
  • Experience of a CAFM system

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked.
