The job:

We are looking for an energetic and creative salesperson to join our European team to help develop and grow the robust and exciting Bioproduction market in the South of the UK. Reporting to the Senior Sales Manager for Northern Europe, you will be responsible for the sales of our entire Bioproduction portfolio including the Gibco Cell Culture, Poros Purification, Pharma Analytics, Production Chemicals and Single Use Technology brands.

This is a field-base role, with a sales territory covering the Slough and Milton Keynes areas. You will be on the road, travelling to meet with customers c.3 days per, with occasional overnight stays required. Candidates should be based within 1 hour’s drive of Slough.

What will you do?

The successful candidate will be expected to build their sales, product and territory knowledge to:


  • Influence the use and evaluation of our Bioproduction products in Biopharmaceutical and Biotech organizations.
  • Maintain and grow business within existing key accounts as well as having curiosity to seek new relationships in emerging segments.
  • Sell at all levels within our customer’s organisation including to technical, manufacturing and procurement partners.
  • Use a consultative approach to understand customer needs and build custom solutions using our open architecture model.
  • Work with their Sales Manager to build and complete a Strategic Sales Plan in the territory.
  • Build their internal network to bring in the appropriate resources to drive sales objectives.
  • Be comfortable with a hunter-selling environment and efficiently collaborate with other teams to ensure we deliver the vital details to bring new proposals to customers.
  • Provide an accurate sales forecast and share competitive intel gathered in the field

Who we are looking for:

  • Life Science degree or equivalent work experience & skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Prior Life Science industry sales experience required; Bioproduction/Biopharma sales experience preferred
  • Relationships with the upstream and downstream process development groups within key biopharmaceutical accounts in the region would be beneficial
  • Capacity to develop strong technical skills to discuss and support requirements in the field of Cell and Gene Therapy, recombinant Proteins and Monoclonal antibodies within Process Development, Pilot Plants and manufacturing sciences
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and interpret Customer's needs to develop solutions
  • Strong analytical skills needed to analyse territory sales data and technical information
  • Ability to perform independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of using a CRM system such as Salesforce.com
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization with additional team members who would share joint responsibility for certain product groups
