The Special Education Coordinator supports and manages special education programs within elementary school environments, ensuring that students with disabilities receive the appropriate services, accommodations, and instruction outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This role works collaboratively with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations while promoting student success and inclusion.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Apply strong SPED expertise to support program compliance and student needs.
Utilize previous elementary school (ES) teaching experience to guide instructional adaptations.
Utilize Behavioral Training expertise to support student behavior management and intervention planning.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, psychologists, administrators, and families to support student academic, social, and behavioral growth.
Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and applicable state special education regulations.
Facilitate and lead IEP meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with legal standards.
Provide coaching and guidance to teachers on instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications.
Monitor service delivery, track student progress, and support timely evaluations and re-evaluations.
Train and support school staff regarding special education requirements, behavior support strategies, and best practices.
Serve as a primary point of contact for families, district teams, and school leaders regarding special education services.
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a closely related field (Master’s preferred).
Valid state certification in Special Education (requirements vary by state).
Behavioral Training experience.
Prior experience working with students with disabilities, including ESE, ASD, IDD, or behavioral needs.
Strong knowledge of IEP development, compliance standards, and state/federal guidelines.
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Experience coordinating SPED programs across multiple classrooms or school sites.
Strong understanding of data-driven instructional planning and progress monitoring.
Experience supporting staff through coaching, training, or program development.
