Job Title: Ice Cream Shop Associate

Summary: This role seeks enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join the team as Ice Cream Shop Associates. The associate provides a friendly and welcoming experience while serving ice cream products. The associate also maintains a clean and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service:
    • Greet all customers and provide friendly, engaging service.
    • Offer samples and menu suggestions.
    • Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and potential allergens.
    • Identify and address customer issues or complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Order Fulfillment & Preparation:
    • Fulfill customer orders by accurately scooping ice cream, preparing sundaes, shakes, and other treats.
    • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently, recording orders and processing transactions (cash, credit, gift cards) accurately.
    • Make and serve specialty coffee drinks and other beverages if applicable.
  • Shop Operations:
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the serving area, dining space, and back-of-house areas.
    • Restock ice cream flavors in display tubs, toppings, cones, cups, napkins, and other supplies regularly.
    • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines diligently.
    • Clean and maintain dipping cabinets and other equipment, including minimizing frost and preventing cross-contamination.
    • Assist with dishes and other tasks as needed.
    • Notify management of any issues with customers, products, or POS system.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration:
    • Work effectively with team members to provide efficient and timely service, especially during peak hours.
    • Provide feedback and ideas for improving customer interactions, products, and shop operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in customer service or food service is preferred but not always required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately using a POS system.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices; a food handler's permit may be required.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-volume customer interactions.
    • Team player with a positive and upbeat attitude.
    • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods (5-8 hours).
    • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks, including the use of arms, hands, and wrists.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (may be required for stocking and moving supplies).
  • Availability:
    • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on shop needs.
